Series of meetings on the economy
On the initiative of the Group’s Chairman, Giovanni Arvedi, in 2004 the Foundation inaugurated a series of meetings on the subject of the economy with opinion-makers and authoritative figures from the Italian and European world of economics.

The many and varied themes have focused on economic and social aspects. Experienced financial journalists such as Giuseppe Turani and Ferruccio de Bortoli, men from the world of banking such as Carlo Salvatori or high level State representatives such as the Prefect Achille Serra, have been followed by men of industrial, economic and government experience such as Francis Mer from France and Giulio Tremonti from Italy to give a critical indication of possible lines for the recovery of the Italian economy:

• Pier Luigi Bersani Responsible for Department of Economy of the Democratic Party, formerly Minister of Economic Development and Ferruccio De Bortoli Director of the newspaper Corriere della Sera - on the subject "Real economy: Italian remedy for a way out of the crisis" - 16th April 2009
• Giuseppe Guzzetti, President of the Cariplo Foundation - spoke on the theme "Bank foundations as an intermediate social body at the service of economic and social development" - 16th March 2007
• Alessandro Profumo, Managing Director of Unicredit - spoke on the theme "The bank and company development in a global market" - 6th February 2007
