Palazzo dell’Arte
Palazzo dell’Arte in Cremona, the work created by the architect Carlo Cocchia in 1941, will return to its former splendour thanks to the generous intervention of the Arvedi-Buschini Foundation. Work, which is already under way, will be concluded by the end of 2011. The renovated building will house the Violin Museum, the engine of cultural activity in the area and the concrete symbol of the historical excellence of Cremonese violin-making. In an area covering 6500 m2 there will be space for a 400-seat auditorium built using the most modern and innovative acoustic techniques, a “treasure chest” with the musical instruments from the Stradivarian collection, libraries, conference rooms, multimedia and interactive areas, laboratories for students, a bookshop and café. The Stradivari Foundation will also have its head office in this building.
Piazza Marconi, the square in front of the building, will be completely re-laid by the Arvedi-Buschini Foundation as a further gift and sign of affection towards the town of Cremona.
