Restoration of Saint Rita’s Church
After years of work, the Church of Saints Margherita and Pelagia (known locally as Saint Rita’s Church) has been fully restored and returned to the faithful for worship thanks to a radical intervention desired and carried out by Giovanni Arvedi through the Foundation.
Restoration work, starting with consolidation of the structure, first resolved the problem of damp, which over the years had attacked the splendid frescoed surfaces, and then tackled the restoration of the frescoes and statues carried out on site and at the workshop of Prof. Gianluigi Colalucci, formerly in charge of the restoration work of the Vatican’s Sistine Chapel.
DetailSchool of Music and concerts
- Besides its typical annual activities, such as scholarships and the grant to the development of Cremona’s University Pole, the Foundation has recently supported the activities of Scuola di Musica Claudio Monteverdi di Cremona, officially recognised as on a par with state-run music academies, and since 2005 has been a founder member of Cremona’s Amilcare Ponchielli Theatre.
