It cannot be used less than 20 mm in height but can be increased in size provided that the proportions are maintained. The Approval Mark must only be reproduced in black or blue (pantone reference 541). If being used on a dark background you will find that the Approval Mark has a white key line so that it remains clearly visible. There may be cases where the Approval Mark cannot be applied, for example where it is required along a cable’s length, where a text version in Frutiger, Arial or similar sans-serif typeface would be used. In such cases, please contact the relevant accrediting Lloyd’s Register group member for additional guidance. Unless it is physically impossible to do so, the Approval Mark must be used unaltered to maintain consistency and avoid confusion. Permission of the relevant accrediting Lloyd’s Register group member must be sought before any alterations are made. Where it is a condition to include information about the service to which the Approval Mark relates, then this must be placed to the right. In each case either Frutiger or Arial typefaces should be used. The Approval Mark must strictly not be used in any manner or way as could lead third parties to believe that it serves to endorse any products, equipment or services to which it does not in fact apply. The Approval Mark can be withdrawn if a company misuses it and continues to do this after attention has been drawn to the misuse. If a company does not have a valid Lloyd’s Register approval certificate (e.g. certificate(s) expired, suspended or withdrawn for any reason) the company must immediately cease to use the Approval Mark and withdraw any material where it is used or referenced. Continued use of the Approval mark in such circumstances may result in legal action being taken by Lloyd’s Register.
