ITT Italia srl, part of U.S.-based ITT Inc., and Acciaieria Arvedi S.p.A. have announced a strategic partnership for the supply of Arvzero™.
This partnership is aimed at supporting ITT's strategy to significantly reduce its CO2 emissions as part of its global sustainability initiatives, whilst also continuing to design and develop world-class brake pads for the automotive industry.
Arvzero™ is a carbon neutral steel produced using the revolutionary Arvedi ESP™ technology, the result of over 30 years of study, research and development, based on the production of an electric furnace loaded with selected recycled scrap and the use of electricity that is 100% certified from renewable sources.
Acciaieria Arvedi has demonstrated its ability to deliver important results in the decarbonization of the steel production cycle due to the capabilities of its Cremona plant, a modern industrial facility producing thin and ultra-thin thicknesses and quality steels.
ITT’s Friction business, based in Barge (CN) and part of ITT Italia srl, is a leading supplier in the design, development, and production of friction materials for automotive applications, including brake pads for nearly all vehicle types in Europe, the U.S. and China. The company is also a leading supplier of brake pads for hybrid and electric vehicles worldwide.
"This partnership represents a significant step towards a more sustainable future in the automotive industry, and braking sector in particular, with both parties committed to creating more environmentally friendly applications, said Luca Martinotto, General Manager, Friction.
"This agreement consolidates the partnership between our companies and represents for us an important recognition of our efforts towards technological innovation and sustainability in the steel production process," said Andrea Brambilla, Director of the Automotive Business Unit of Acciaieria Arvedi.
