Mother shells for drawing

The production of mother shells for cold drawing is one of ATA’s basic activities. 

Depending on the customer’s requirements, Arvedi Tubi Acciaio can supply a wide and diversified range of mother shells for drawing that are produced on the stretch-reducing mill or welded and calibrated.

The tubes are made in compliance with international standards EN 10210, EN 10296, EN 10305-3 or according to customer specifications. The size range is the complete ATA range with diameters from 17 to 355,6 mm with wall thicknesses from 1.5 to 16 mm. The steel grades are both according to standards and also to customer specifications. The options are many and regard surfaces, which may be black or pickled, and state of supply (hot rolled, cold or hot finished).

Some characteristics, such as dimensional precision, the extreme ratio between wall thickness and external diameter, the excellent internal bead removal, the numerous special steel grades of constant and repetitive quality, the possibility offered by the hot rolled tube to be used directly without initial normalization, together make Arvedi “mother shells”, or hollows, competitive and able to meet the requirements for precision applications in the wire-drawing sector.

Arvedi Tubi Acciaio is also specialized in the production of mother shells for cold drawing for the production of hydraulic cylinders with low surface roughness values.
